IKControl

Grab a hand and drag it, and the arm follows. Pose limbs by moving one target instead of turning every joint.

An IKControl turns the Motor6Ds or Bones from ChainRoot down to EndEffector so the end effector reaches Target. Type picks Transform, Position, Rotation or LookAt; Pole picks the side an elbow or knee bends to; Weight blends from the animated pose. Insert one on a hand and it fills the chain, adds a Target and a Pole, and selects the Target with Move. It works after keys, rig clips and scripts and before anything draws, in Edit and Play.

Properties

NameTypeDefaultDescription
ChainRootInstance? The chain runs from EndEffector up to ChainRoot, whose own joint is included: RightUpperArm to RightHand turns shoulder, elbow and wrist.
EnabledbooleantrueWhen off, the joints get their own Transforms back, as at Weight 0.
EndEffectorInstance? The end of the chain: the joints from ChainRoot down to it turn so it reaches Target.
EndEffectorOffsetCFrame0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 1The point of the end effector that reaches the target.
OffsetCFrame0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 1Moves the target in its own space.
PoleInstance?Picks the side the elbow or knee bends to.
SmoothTimenumber0
0 to 1
Eases the solve over time; 0 is exact, best for video.
TargetInstance? What the end effector reaches, by turning the joints from ChainRoot down to EndEffector.
Type("Transform" | "Position" | "Rotation" | "LookAt" | EnumIKControlType)"Transform"
Transform, Position, Rotation, LookAt
Transform matches the target's position and orientation, Position only its position, Rotation only its orientation; LookAt aims the LookVector at it.
Weightnumber1
0 to 1
Blends from the animated pose to the solve; it can be keyed and wired.
