TexturePack

Dress a part beyond its colour: texture, bumps, shine, metal, glow, glass and see-through, shared by every part that points at the same pack.

Each channel, Texture, Normal, Roughness, Metalness, Emission, Transparency, Transmission and IOR, is an image or a typed value. Images follow a MeshPart's UVs; plain Parts use the values, and a Material tiles over both. The first edit of a part's Surface rows in Properties gives it its own pack; part.TexturePack = pack shares one. Wire a picture or a surface graph into a channel in the Nodes window; a surface graph looks the same in Solid and Rendered.

Properties

Surface

NameTypeDefaultDescription
EmissionMapImageContent0
0 to 1000
Emission strength, times the surface colour: an image or a value.
IORMapImageContent1.45
1 to 3
The IOR channel: a typed value, or an image whose red 0 to 1 covers IOR 1 to 3.
MaterialMaterialA Material applied to the parts that use this pack.
MetalnessMapImageContent0
0 to 1
The Metalness channel: a typed number, or an image read through its red channel where there are mesh UVs.
NormalMapImageContent0.5, 0.5, 1The surface normal channel: an image or a typed value, where 0.5, 0.5, 1 is flat.
RoughnessMapImageContent0.5
0 to 1
The roughness image, read from its red channel along a MeshPart's UVs; RoughnessValue is used where there is none.
TextureImageContent1, 1, 1An image, or a typed colour that acts exactly like a flat image of that colour.
TransmissionMapImageContent0
0 to 1
The Transmission channel: a typed number, or an image read through its red channel where there are mesh UVs.
TransparencyMapImageContent0
0 to 1
Makes the part see-through: a typed value, or an image that is see-through where it is white.

Scripts

EmissionValuenumberscripts onlyThe typed emission strength, times the surface colour, used where there is no Emission image.
IORValuenumberscripts onlyThe typed IOR, used where there is no IOR image and always on plain Parts.
MetalnessValuenumberscripts onlyThe typed metalness, used where there is no Metalness image and always on plain Parts.
NormalValueVector3scripts onlyThe typed normal: it tilts MeshParts through their tangents and does nothing on plain Parts.
RoughnessValuenumberscripts onlyThe roughness used where there is no image, and on plain Parts.
TextureValueColor3scripts onlyThe typed colour used where there is no Texture image; it acts like a flat image of that colour.
TransmissionValuenumberscripts onlyThe typed transmission, used where there is no Transmission image and always on plain Parts.
TransparencyValuenumberscripts onlyThe pack's typed transparency; a part's old Transparency property forwards to it.
